Johnny Manziel has reportedly signed a lucrative endorsement deal with Nike. According to ESPN’s Darren Rovell, Manziel and Nike have agreed to a multi-year contract that will pay the talented quarterback more than any other rookie in the 2014 class.
While no figures have been released, the signing could be doubly beneficial to Nike. Rovell reports that the deal may allow the apparel company rights to profit off Manziel’s nickname, “Johnny Football.”
In signing Manziel, Nike beat out the likes of Under Armour, New Balance and adidas, who was Texas A&M’s supplier during Manziel’s days in College Station.
