Joker Phillips hired as Gators new wide receiver coach

It didn’t take long for former Kentucky head coach Joker Phillips to find a home. According to ESPN and FootballScoop.com, Phillips has been hired by Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp to head up the wide receivers.

Former Florida wide receiver coach Aubrey Hill resigned prior to the start of the 2012 season, leaving a hole open on offensive coordinator Brent Pease’s staff.

Phillips spent the majority of his career as a wide receiver coach, with stints at Kentucky, Minnesota, Notre Dame, and South Carolina. He eventually landed at the helm of the Wildcats program for three years, amassing an overall record of 13-24.

He also spent time as a wide receiver in the NFL in the 80’s.

Welcome to the Gator Nation, Joker!
