Last week news broke that former South Carolina Gamecocks running back Kenny Miles had been shot. Initial reports were that he suffered the gun-shot wound during alleged robbery attempt.
On Tuesday we learned that the events we initially believed to be true didn’t actually happen. The Associated Press reports that Miles instead shot himself in the arm. Upon recovery, he will be charged with filing a false police report.
Authorities say former South Carolina running back Kenny Miles shot himself in the arm last week in a parking lot and will be charged with filing a false police report.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said Tuesday that he will not speculate why Miles shot himself in the upper arm Nov. 4 and then lied to officers, saying he was robbed.
According to a statement from Miles, the former running back lied to authorities because he was scared.
Miles spent four years (2009-12) with South Carolina, collecting 1,341 rushing yards, 416 receiving yards and five total touchdowns.
