College basketball may have tipped off last Friday, but Tuesday night is the real coming out party. The No. 1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats and No. 2 Michigan State Spartans will square off at the Champions Classic in Chicago.
For those wondering, this will be the first time in five years that a No. 1 and No. 2 team have faced off this early in the year. Will Kentucky still be atop the college basketball landscape when its players wake up on Wednesday morning? Can John Calipari’s latest group of Kiddie ‘Cats take down a veteran Michigan State squad – and in Big Ten country, no less?
Tom Izzo’s Spartans have been picked to win the Big Ten title and, like Calipari’s ‘Cats, compete for a national crown.
Will they be the squad making the early-season statement, and claiming the the top spot in the country? Will senior Adreian Payne prove that he is one of the best low-post players in the game? Can he show highly-touted freshman Julius Randle how to play big boy basketball?
We have no idea what the answers to these questions are, but maybe you do. On Tuesday night, with the eyes of the sports world watching, who will be victorious?
