A native of Akron, LeBron James is still a hero in Ohio even after jilting Cleveland in favor of Miami. The MVP, champion and international icon never went to college after graduating from St. Vincent-St. Mary’s. However, if the one-and-done rule had been in place at the time, he probably would have played at Ohio State.
The Buckeyes basketball team now wears his gear. Far more immediately, however, King James will be trying to provide some inspiration to coach Urban Meyer’s football team.
According to Ben Axelrod of BuckeyeSports.com, Bron Bron will be on the sidelines for Ohio State’s highly anticipated Saturday showdown against Wisconsin. He will also be giving a speech to the team before kickoff.
Meyer, for one, is thrilled to have James in attendance.
“Give me all kinds of LeBrons,” Meyer said. “You just see the way he articulates, his look, the way he treats people, the focus. We use him in those leadership meetings we use, those videos, his face is plastered all over them. First of all, our guys all admire him. And the head coach really admires him.”
The Badgers and Buckeyes kick off at 8 p.m. EST on ABC – however, cornerback Bradley Roby is hoping Ohio State fans get the party started far earlier.
