The U.S. Olympic Team will be without one of its biggest, and most decorated, stars during the 2014 Sochi Games. Lindsey Vonn has officially withdrawn from the competition due to a lingering knee injury.
Vonn spent the better part of 2013 rehabbing her right knee after tearing the ACL in February of that year. She then crashed in late November during a training run in Colorado. The crash resulted in a partially torn ACL of her previously injured right knee. After one final crash, during a December World Cup downhill event in France, the writing was on the wall.
For her career, Vonn has won three Olympic medals, 59 World Cup races and four overall World Cup titles.
The Opening Ceremony for Sochi is Friday, February 7.
