Louisville’s Chane Behanan suspended, no longer part of team

On Thursday afternoon it was announced that Cardinals forward Chane Behanan had been suspended by Louisville.

According to Eric Crawford, sports columnist for WDRB in Louisville, Behanan violated university policy and is no longer a member of the Cardinals basketball team. He no longer lives in the team’s dormitory on campus.

Rick Pitino stated that Louisville, “set up a situation for him to come back, and he already violated it.” Pitino also went on to say ,”We are very concerned about Chane Behanan that he move forward and prosper as a person.”

No further details on what exactly Behanan violated have been released.

The 6-foot-6, 250 pound junior played an instrumental part in the Cardinals’ run to a national championship last season. Behanan averaged 26.1 minutes, 9.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.4 blocks per game.

In his absence, Pitino plans to use junior guard/forward Wayne Blackshear.
