Louisville athletic director Tom Jurich is busy putting together a pool of potential candidates to replace Charlie Strong. According to FootballScoop.com, his early short list includes Rich Rodriguez.
Sources tell us that Tom Jurich’s short list begins with Rich Rodriguez and he is working on it today. Will update once more information is available. Jurich will make this decision and it won’t drag on for days and days.
Rodriguez just finished his second season with Arizona, where he has coached the team to a 16-10 overall record. Prior to that, he was with Michigan for three years and West Virginia for seven. Rodriguez has a 136-94-2 record as a head coach.
Jurich has stated that he is looking for the best coach available, who is also a good fit at Louisville. He views his job opening as one of America’s destination jobs. With the program’s move to the ACC, and the recent success of the Cardinals, it should be easy for Jurich to land who he feels is best to lead the program into the future. Whether or not that person is Rodriguez, we will have to wait and see.
