News recently surfaced that former Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith interviewed with USC for the Trojans’ open head coaching position last week.
That initial report was quickly shot down by Matt Smith, Lovie’s son and agent.
While USC would be an incredible opportunity, Lovie Smith did not interview for that opening. Any reports to the contrary are false.

Smith was fired by the Bears in December, and has yet to jump back into a head coaching job.
He does have 13 years coaching experience in the college ranks, with stints at Tulsa, Wisconsin, Arizona State and Kentucky, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he did eventually land back at the “amateur” level.
