Despite all of the championships, history and prestige, the University of Miami has always been behind the curve when it comes to athletic facilities.
With head coach Al Golden on a mission to return the once-proud program to prominence and the weight of NCAA sanctions being lifted from its shoulders, the university is making a huge effort to upgrade the facilities.
It’s necessary in today’s day and age when top high school recruits are wooed by programs such as Oregon, who happen to have recently unveiled a brand new, $68 million facility that could double as Star Trek’s Starship Enterprise.
As part of Miami’s new Schwartz Center for Athletic Excellence, the Hurricanes have dedicated their locker room to former player Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
According to CBS Sports, Johnson provided Miami’s athletic department with the largest donation ever by a former student.
