Miami Hurricanes pitcher Javi Salas threw a perfect game on Tuesday night. It was the second perfect game in UM history (the other was by Kevin Sheary in 1987), and only the 22nd ever in Division I baseball. Salas needed only 113 pitches to get through the contest.
The No. 16 Hurricanes put together a complete game against the Villanova Wildcats. Aside from Salas’ domination, Miami posted 17 runs on 12 hits, completely overwhelming its opponent. Tuesday’s game was the first of a two-game home stand against the ‘Cats.
Below is footage of Salas’ final out and the team’s celebration following the historic performance.
