Mike Pouncey misses practice to meet with Massachusetts grand jury

Mike Pouncey, center for the Miami Dolphins, missed practice on Wednesday. While the team wouldn’t confirm the reason for his absence, it has been reported that Pouncey is in Massachusetts to meet with a grand jury.

On October 27 he was subpoenaed outside of the locker room after a game in Gillette Stadium. Officials want to question Pouncey about former teammate (and roommate) Aaron Hernandez, who is being held in connection with the murder of Odin Lloyd. Investigators are also looking at Hernandez for interstate trafficking of guns.

During the offseason Pouncey caused a stir when he and his twin brother Maurkice were photographed wearing “Free Hernandez” hats. The Dolphins have not specified when Pouncey will return to practice, though he is expected to play on Sunday.
