Report: Minnesota Vikings will not trade Adrian Peterson following season

Prior to Sunday’s Minnesota-Philadelphia game, NFL columnist Mike Silver brought an early Christmas present to Vikings fans. On “NFL GameDay Morning,” Silver announced that Minnesota would not be trading star running back Adrian Peterson following the season. Two sources confirmed the Vikings’ intentions with Silver.

“They want him running through that tunnel,” Silver said.

Minnesota recently broke ground on a new stadium, which is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2016 season. Peterson, being the team’s biggest draw, will have a big part in putting fans in the new stands.

As Silver points out, despite Peterson’s billing as the top running back in the game, the return the Vikings would get from trading him would not be nearly enough to warrant the move.
