Minor-league team West Michigan Whitecaps’ stadium catches fire

Friday morning brought an unfortunate event to the West Michigan Whitecaps, a minor-league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.  The team’s stadium, Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park, MI, caught fire.

According to a report from WWMT.com, the blaze started in one of the suites prior to 11:00 a.m. Local fire rescue has responded.

Fifth Third Ballpark opened in 1994 with a seating capacity of 5,701. Over the years it has expanded to accommodate more than 10,000 fans.
