SI honors MJ’s 50th birthday with his 50th SI cover, just another record for the G.O.A.T.

The one and only Michael Jordan turns 50 on Sunday, — crazy how time flies, huh — and in honor of his half century of greatness, Sports Illustrated has given him the cover of their publication for the 50th time.

No coincidence there or anything.

LeBron still has a long way to go to touch MJ’s SI cover record, and probably won’t ever come close. The next to follow are Muhammad Ali (37), Tiger Woods (24) and Magic Johnson (23).

The cover features Jordan’s iconic slam dunk contest moment from 1988. You know, the free-throw line dunk that everyone and their mother has tried to replicate since. Jordan scored a perfect 50 on the dunk and the rest, as we say, is history.

Happy 50th birthday G.O.A.T.
