Benches Clear In Cubs-Reds Game

Benches cleared in the middle of the 9th inning during Thursday’s game between the Cubs and Reds. Chicago first baseman Anthony Rizzo had some choice words for Cincinnati while the teams were changing out, and walked over to the opponent’s dugout. From there, Reds players flooded onto the field and both benches and bullpens cleared.

Here’s a look at Rizzo going after the Reds dugout.

The game was heated throughout, as Rizzo, teammate John Baker and Reds shortstop Zack Cozart were all hit by pitches. In the top of the 9th, Aroldis Chapman came inside after Cubs outfielder Nate Schierholtz with two heaters that hit the backstop.

No punches were thrown, no players were ejected, and the game resumed after a short delay.
