Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe is reporting a rumor floating around the interwebs that the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the San Antonio Spurs on opening night of the NBA season on TNT.
Normally, the defending champions from the previous year will open at home so they can receive their championship rings. However, when you factor in the LeBron coming home scenario into the situation, all bets are off.
Rumor has it that the NBA’s season-opening game on TNT will be San Antonio at Cleveland, the first home game for LeBron James in his return to Cleveland and the first game for the defending NBA champion Spurs. The NBA schedule is expected to be released next month.
While this would be a great way to get the entire nation to tune into the game, people in northeast Ohio will not care who the Cavaliers are playing. The energy that will encompass Quicken Loans Arena on opening night will far eclipse the hype of who their opponent is.
