On Thursday, the Connecticut Huskies unveiled a new logo that serves two purposes for the school’s athletic department: First, the school will no longer be going with a ‘Connecticut’, ‘C’, or a ‘UC’ on their jerseys and uniforms, but rather with a ‘UConn’ that will now serve as the Huskies’ official brand moving forward.
Second, Jonathan Husky has been given a massive face-lift.
UConn.edu asked women’s basketball coach and 2013 national champion Geno Auriemma what he thought of the new look. The eight-time title winner came away extremely impressed:
“This logo is everything that a Husky is supposed to be – powerful, aggressive, determined,” he says. “It is looking right through you and saying ‘Do not mess with me.’ This is a streamlined, fighting dog, and I cannot wait for it to be on our uniforms and court.”
Kevin Ollie, who recently completed his first season leading the men’s team, was in total agreement.
“I absolutely love this new Husky Dog logo. It looks fantastic on our uniforms and I know that our fans will love it as much as we do. Our new identity is a look that I know I will be proud to wear.”
