The two year old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is reportedly in critical condition at a Sioux Falls, North Dakota hospital. Peterson missed practice on Thursday, and was seen in North Dakota. It’s now being reported that he was away from the team to be by his young child’s side.
According to Pro Football Talk and the Argus Leader, Peterson’s son was admitted to the hospital with severe choking injuries. Joseph Patterson, boyfriend of the boy’s mother, has been arrested and held without bond. Patterson has been charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Sioux Falls Police Lt. Blaine Larson has said that the child’s injuries are “consistent with abuse,” as opposed to being accidental. The case is being handled by the Lincoln County State’s Attorney.
Peterson was back in Minnesota on Friday. Our hearts go out to him in this time of strife.
