Nick Saban rumored to be heading to Texas? As Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast, my friend.”
After leading the Tide to three national championships, Saban’s agent reportedly told Texas that the Longhorns’ job is the only one the coach would consider leaving Tuscaloosa for.
On Wednesday, Saban was forced to take time away from his preparation for a huge game against LSU to reiterate his commitment to his current program.
“Well I don’t know where these reports come from,” Saban told ESPN’s Tom Rinaldi. “I’ve sort of addressed the situation before. I’m totally committed to the University of Alabama, looking forward to the game we have this week and all my focus has been on LSU and what our team needs to do to play their best.”
It seems like Saban is forced to dispel rumors of his impending departure from the Crimson Tide every other month. In September, Saban told reporters that he is “too damn old to start over somewhere else.”
In October, more rumors surfaced that his wife, Terry, was house-hunting in Austin.
Once again, Saban has said all the right things to squash any talk of him jumping to Texas following this season. Whether or not he sticks by his word remains to be seen.
