Christopher McComas has applied to become the next North Dakota head football coach. His platform: “Chuck the Pigskin.”

McComas has become a blogosphere sensation after applying for the job based solely on his passion for football and video game expertise. Sure it sounds crazy, but here are five reasons why North Dakota should pull the trigger.

  1. The guy is passionate. He was ballsy enough to send in the application, and has started a social media barrage.
  2. He isn’t afraid of other coaches. Nobody is going to “big time” McComas. He’s already calling out people before getting the job. The guy is basically the Spurrier of video game football.
  3. McComas lives the game. He diagrams while working his other job. It doesn’t matter that Xs are defense. Just win, baby.
  4. The man actually wants to live in North Dakota. It’s beautiful country up in “Sunflake City,” but not a lot of folks are chomping at the bit to get up there. Hire him for a salary over what he makes now, give it a one-year trial period with an out clause, and call it a day.
  5. Exposure. Why not get a little exposure for the program? ABC news is contacting him, and every sports outlet with a pulse is onto the guy. What does North Dakota have to lose besides a year. Radical coaching strategies sometimes take hold and become synonymous with the school.

It’s worth a shot, North Dakota. Chuck the pigskin.
