Notre Dame took some time out of the team’s bowl game preparations while in New York to pay a visit to the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero. On Friday morning, the Fighting Irish paid tribute to members of the Notre Dame family. Players placed American flags in the names of the four alumni who lost their lives on that tragic September morning.

Following are a handful of photos of the team paying respect to the individuals who passed through the walls of Notre Dame before them, and helped shape their great university into what it is today.

Notre Dame will face off against Rutgers on Saturday, Dec. 28 in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl.
