Oklahoma State has already spent $100,000 investigating SI’s allegations

In September, Sports Illustrated released a five-part investigative series about the alleged misconduct within Oklahoma State University’s athletics department. The school vowed to take the charges seriously and, by all accounts, has.

Tulsa World reports that, in only four months, Oklahoma State has paid an independent party over $100,000 for a complete review of the department. The audit is being performed by The Compliance Group, and helmed by former NCAA director of enforcement Chuck Smrt. For their work, Oklahoma State pays TCG $220 per hour.

While some viewed the SI piece as a hatchet job, or baseless, Oklahoma State is nevertheless spending the money to either be vindicated, or right any ills within its program.
