Sports Illustrated has named Peyton Manning its 2013 Sportsman of the Year. With the announcement, Manning becomes the sixth NFL quarterback to collect the award.
Manning is having arguably the best season of his celebrated career. Through only 14 of 16 games, he has already passed for more yards than in any previous season, and has thrown for 47 touchdowns compared to only 10 interceptions. Manning’s Broncos are currently 11-3, tied for the best record in the AFC.
Manning joins Drew Brees (2010) and Tom Brady (2005) as Sportsmen of the Year winners currently playing in the NFL. LeBron James won the award in 2012.
