Recently, Alabama coach Nick Saban announced that his Crimson Tide squad would be making a rare modification to its uniforms with the addition of a Mal Moore tribute on its helmets.
Moore spent decades involved with the program first as a player (he sported the same No. 10 that star quarterback A.J. McCarron wears today), then as assistant coach, and finally the athletic director that hired Saban and changed the course of college football history.
On Monday, the tribute was unveiled. It is a simple, classy sticker on the back of the helmet which spells, “MAL” in all caps. Within the name is the Tide’s trademark Script “A” — just like the Script “A” was always held deeply and respectfully within Moore.
