Philadelphia Flyers winger Jakub Voracek crashed his Ferrari California first into a truck, then a tree and finally into a telephone pole early Wednesday morning near his hometown of Kladno, Czech Republic.
The accident was first reported by Czech outlet Sports.cz, who had spoken with local authorities on the scene.
Luckily, no one was injured, and Voracek passed a breathalyzer test on-site. Voracek had been driving too fast to stop when a truck attempted to make a left turn in front of his Ferrari, sending the car and the player into chaos.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren released a statement on the scare:
“I spoke with Jake this morning. He was involved in a car accident in the Czech Republic. Although his car did suffer damage, there were no injuries. Jake is fine.”
Voracek himself texted a Courier-Post reporter with his status:
“All good. No injuries. That’s good! Can’t talk now. Very busy 🙂 haha”
Car enthusiasts are definitely smarting, seeing such a beautiful Ferrari in such condition. However, everyone is breathing a sigh of relief that Voracek is totally healthy and in good enough spirits to text reporters smiley faces.
For those wondering, the base price of the California is $201,290. No big deal.
