NBA veteran Jason Collins broke the gay athlete barrier on Monday, becoming the first active male athlete in major American sports to do so. It was a monumental moment for sports and gay rights history.
Naturally, the entire sports world has been focused solely on the subject. One of the cooler pieces of history that we’ve come across (thanks to SI’s Extra Mustard) is this photo of Collins’ high school basketball team.
Collins is the player that the blue arrow is pointing towards on our right, while the individual on our left is none other than Hollywood funny-man Jason Segel.
The two anchored the front court of Harvard-Westlake High School in 1995-1996.
Jason Segel’s nickname? Doctor Dunk.
