Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson is expected to miss serious time after suffering a broken arm in a single-car accident early Tuesday morning. One might be led to assume that alcohol was involved, but that was not the case.
Instead, Burleson’s instincts simply kicked in. A pizza he had picked up for a late-night snack was apparently falling off one of the seats in the car. He reached for it, but in doing so lost control of his SUV. The unfortunate event was a freak accident. It leaves his team in a serious bind at the position, too, as Burleson was the No. 2 man behind superstar Calvin Johnson. He was even leading the team in receptions (19) through three games.
