The entire New Mexico State football program was desperate  for a major facelift. After going 1-11 in 2012, the Aggies brought in new head coach Doug Martin to turn around the school’s downtrodden football program.

Whether or not Martin can make that happen remains to be seen, but at least his players will be looking a lot better on the field of play. Above is a photo of the Ags’ new lids for the fall. The maroon helmets feature the school’s mascot, Pistol Pete, above a large “Aggies” print with “New Mexico State” below that.

The whole “guns a-blazin'” thing really comes through in the team’s new branding. The criss-crossed pistols running down the center of the helmets don’t hurt either.

Of course, this holds especially true when compared to the team’s helmets of old, which simply read “NM State” in what were arguably the most boring helmets in college football.

Don’t take our word for it. Below is a photo of the Aggies’ old helmets. Take a peek and then try to argue that they should not have upgraded. You just can’t.
