Photo: North Carolina paints end zones red, white and blue for Military Appreciation Day

, , , , ,

The North Carolina Tar Heels will be adding an American touch to their end zones for this weekend’s “Military Appreciation” game against ECU.

We have already seen the special-edition, Stars and Stripes alternate helmets the Heels will be wearing against the Pirates, but the equipment managers aren’t the only ones getting into the fun. The program’s grounds crew has filled in the “Carolina” in the end zones with a red, white and blue pattern that is as patriotic as apple pie and, well, football.

Obviously, there is no real way to thank people who put their lives on the line in order for the rest of us to live in freedom. However, it’s always nice to see a little commemoration for their work.
