When the vaunted UCLA offense took the field for the first time against New Mexico State on Saturday, there was a noticeable, symbolic absence. The Bruins played with just 10 players in order to honor teammate Nick Pasquale, who tragically passed away after being struck by a car during the Bruins’ bye week.

It was a touching moment from a team that will play the entire year with a heavy heart.

After the first quarter, with the Bruins up 7-0, the university presented a framed Pasquale No. 36 jersey to the young man’s family.

UCLA fans also took the time to thank Nebraska after Cornhuskers players and fans showed such graciousness following the tragedy a week ago.
