Stat of the day: Blazers’ start to 2013-14 season is championship worthy

Hold on to your hats, NBA fans, because this stat my just blow you away. At 22-4, the Portland Trail Blazers have put together the best record in the league through the early going of the 2013-14 season. While impressive, that’s not the stat that is shocking.

Of the 22 wins, the Blazers have strung together 10 straight non-conference wins to start the season. Going by recent history, that means Portland is on a collision course to hoist the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy. The last two teams that accomplished such a flawless start have gone on to win the NBA championship. Those two squads were the 2007-08 Boston Celtics and the 2009-10 Los Angeles Lakers.

While they still have a long way to go, the Trail Blazers are proving that they are a force to be reckoned with during each outing. If Damien Lillard continues to play with ice in his veins, no one will want to face this team in the playoffs.
