Former NFL WR Reche Caldwell arrested for ‘keeping a gambling house’

Former NFL wide receiver Reche Caldwell was arrested on Sunday, Jan. 5. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Caldwell was detained on charges of “keeping a gambling house” and “bookmaking.” His bond has been set at $2,000 for each charge.

Caldwell played his college football for Steve Spurrier and the Florida Gators from 1998-01, where he was a three year letterman. A very successful career in The Swamp led to a second-round selection in the 2002 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers.

The Tampa, Florida native spent a total of six seasons in the league. He was with the Chargers for four seasons, before spending one each with the Patriots and Redskins. Caldwell’s last appearance was in 2008 with the St. Louis Rams, but he failed to make the regular-season roster.
