Brace yourself, Tide Nation, because Lane Kiffin is scheduled to interview for the Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator position. Jeremy Fowler of CBS Sports reports that Kiffin could meet with the school as early as Thursday.
Late Wednesday evening, it was announced that Alabama’s incumbent offensive coordinator, Doug Nussmeier, was leaving the program to take on the same role with Michigan. The Tide appear in a hurry to fill the vacant position, as they have Kiffin and several NFL prospects on tap for interviews.
The prospect of Kiffin joining Alabama appear promising. He was in Tuscaloosa prior to the Sugar Bowl, serving as a consultant to the offense.
If he does get the job, it would mark the SEC return of one of the most polarizing figures in sports. Kiffin left scorched earth in his wake when he fled Knoxville for the Left Coast in 2010. Now, like the prodigal son, Kiffin appears interested in returning to the South to resow the seeds of a once-promising career.
