No. 2-ranked quarterback recruit Ricky Town decommits from Alabama

One of the crown jewels of Alabama’s 2015 recruiting class has decommited from the Crimson Tide. On Saturday afternoon, five-star quarterback Ricky Town tweeted the news.

Town is ranked the No. 2 quarterback in the country, and No. 9 overall recruit by Rivals. He originally committed to Alabama in August 2013, and recently wowed at the Elite 11 SoCal Regional.

While he gave no official reason, Town’s decision may be based on the news that Florida State backup Jacob Coker will likely be transferring to Alabama. With a stable full of underclassmen quarterbacks already on the roster, Town’s camp may feel there will be too much of a logjam in Tuscaloosa.

*UPDATE* Town has committed to the USC Trojans.
