Washington coach Mike Shanahan has remained adamant that star quarterback Robert Griffin III will not be playing any actual football until the preseason is all said and done. The way RGIII sees things, however, his coach has nothing to worry about.
Why? Because the former Heisman winner can “still hit turbo,” which is a really great thing to say if you’re living in real life instead of just playing Mario Kart.
Are you just as fast as you were?” Kevin Sheehan of ESPN 980 asked.
“I don’t ever say that,” Griffin answered. “I just tell people I can still hit turbo.”
“Is turbo 4.3 something?” Sheehan asked.
“Oh, I think so,” Griffin said. “If I went out there and had to run a 40 today, like at the combine, in my underwear, I feel like I could go 4.3.”
Griffin sustained a partially torn ACL against Seattle in last season’s playoffs and has been recovering from the surgery to repair it ever since. This, of course, after tearing his ACL as a sophomore at Baylor.
If he does manage to come back from this injury in the same manner as he did from the one he sustained in college, his words to Sheehan will be bad news for the rest of the NFL.
