1. Can the Gators defense stop Bray? Answer: Yes
For the most part, yes. The Gators did their job defensively. However, like all the games so far for Florida, it was a tale of two halves for Florida's defense. In the first half, the defensive line struggled to get pressure on Tennessee QB Tyler Bray; while Florida's secondary, consisting of junior Jaylen Watkins and sophomore Marcus Roberson, struggled to contain the Volunteers' future NFL wide receivers, juniors Justin Hunter and Cordarrelle Patterson.
However, Florida's coaching staff made the necessary adjustments at half time, which resulted in a more effective pass rush and better coverage by the secondary.
Coming into the game, Tyler Bray had six touchdowns and no interceptions. Florida held Bray to 253 passing yards and forced two interceptions. Florida senior back Lerentee McCray forced Bray's first interception of the season when he was trying to complete a dump-off pass over the middle.
Once the second half started, Florida's defense allowed only seven points. In fact, after allowing Tennessee to score on the Vols first drive of the 2nd-half, Florida allowed only two 1st-downs the rest of the game.
