The UConn Huskies know a thing or two about good point guards. During the 2011 season, Kemba Walker led the team to the Final Four and national championship. Now, the program has returned to the sport’s most prestigious round of play on the back of another spectacular player, Shabazz Napier.
Napier put up 25 points, four assists and six rebounds against Michigan State in the Elite 8 to lead UConn to its fifth appearance in the Final Four. Walker’s numbers from the 2011 Elite 8 were eerily similar. He recorded 20 points, seven assists and four rebounds.
Following is a comparison of the two player’s incredible tournament runs:
Players like Walker don’t come around for programs very often, but apparently for UConn it’s not a rare occurrence. Up next for the point guard is the Florida Gators, who last lost on a Napier buzzer beater.
