The highly-anticipated match day between USA and Germany is finally here, and with it has come the rain. The city of Recife, which sits on the coast of Brazil and has a population just under 3,800,000, is experiencing massive flooding.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Schaap, refs will take to Arena Pernambuco’s field an hour prior to the game to determine if the match is playable.
Another difficulty facing fans attending the game in Recife is actually arriving at the stadium, which is a good distance to the west of the city.
Following are some intense flooding photos showing the city under a heavy amount of water.
