Sony Michael, at 5-foot-11 and 205 pounds, is the No. 2-rated running back in the nation by Rivals and the no. 5-overall player at any position. With a 40-yard dash clocked at 4.4 seconds, Michel has the combination of size and speed to compete at the next level.

Which is exactly what he will be doing, for the Georgia Bulldogs, come the fall of 2014.

The Plantation, Florida native made his announcement on ESPNU’s College Football Daily on Friday afternoon, and according to the Orlando Sun-Sentinel, the young man could not be more excited.

“Georgia is a wonderful place, first time I stepped on campus, I loved it,” Michel said. “Georgia is different and I wanted to experience something different.”

Of course, Georgia was also appealing enough to bring both Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall aboard last year. As true freshmen, the two combined for 2,134 rushing yards in 2012. However, Michel says he is excited for the chance to compete.

“Those two running backs actually gave me the itch of wanting to go to Georgia,” Michel said. “Having two great running backs there is awesome, I can go in and compete. I always want to earn my spot.”

Georgia fans are going to be thrilled to watch Michel try to earn exactly that.
