Chip Brown of Orangebloods.com has reported that Arizona State Athletic Director Steve Patterson will become the next athletics director for the University of Texas.
A source told Brown, “It’s been agreed to by both sides.”
Speculation arose early Tuesday morning that Patterson had emerged as the frontrunner over West Virgina AD Oliver Luck. Texas’ hiring committee reportedly liked his eclectic background, as well as his philosophy as Arizona State’s AD.
Since taking over for the Sun Devils, Patterson, 55, has led the charge for a handful of major undertakings to help move the program into the future.
Before his tenure at Arizona State, Patterson had stints with the Houston Rockets, Houston Texans, Portland Trailblazers, Houston Aeros, as well as his own business venture.
