Super Bowl XVLVIII is most watched TV show in U.S. history

The numbers are in, and while the Denver Broncos didn’t show up to Super Bowl XLVIII, viewers still tuned in. According to a press release from FOX Sports, Sunday night’s game averaged 111.5 viewers, making it the most-watched TV show in U.S. history. The previous record was held by Super Bowl XLVI between the New England Patriots and New York Giants. That game drew an average of 111.3 million viewers.

A record-viewing audience also tuned into the Super Bowl halftime show to watch Bruno Mars (find Bruno Mars tickets here) and Red Hot Chili Peppers burn down the stage. The show drew 115.3 million viewers, surpassing Madonna’s mark of 114 million.
