On the day Syracuse joined the ACC, the school’s athletic program is also receiving buzz across the internet for what it’s calling “the first trade in NCAA history.”
As confirmed by a report on Stanford’s athletic site, the Orange have received the rights to the twitter handle “@SUAthletics”, a handle that had served previously as the official handle for Stanford. In return, the Cardinal will receive “a collection of local goods to be named later” and a case of oranges.
For Syracuse, this allows the school to synchronize its twitter handle with its web site (suathletics.com). The school will also keep its current handle, “@Cuse”. Stanford will now use “@GoStanford” which syncs itself with its athletic site name (gostanford.com).
Yup, college athletics and Twitter work in mysterious ways.
