Syracuse, Stanford complete “first trade in NCAA history”

On the day Syracuse joined the ACC, the school’s athletic program is also receiving buzz across the internet for what it’s calling “the first trade in NCAA history.”

As confirmed by a report on Stanford’s athletic site, the Orange have received the rights to the twitter handle “@SUAthletics”, a handle that had served previously as the official handle for Stanford. In return, the Cardinal will receive “a collection of local goods to be named later” and a case of oranges.

For Syracuse, this allows the school to synchronize its twitter handle with its web site ( The school will also keep its current handle, “@Cuse”. Stanford will now use “@GoStanford” which syncs itself with its athletic site name (

Syracuse’s mascot is downright pumped to be joining the ACC
