One may have been led to assume that Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium is big enough. After all, it is one of a very few football stadiums in the country that can squeeze in more than 100,000 fans.
However, when the Volunteers take on the Virginia Tech Hokies in 2016, a whopping 60,000 more fans are expected to attend the game – at nearby Bristol Motor Speedway.
No, there is not an error in that last line. When Tennessee and Va. Tech face off in an out-of-conference game in a few years’ time, the two programs will be doing so in a stadium built for NASCAR races.
