Tom Izzo believes Kentucky has seven first-round picks, more talent than some NBA teams

There’s a reason why the Kentucky Wildcats, despite missing the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13, are ranked No. 1 in the nation. With coach John Calipari’s Kiddie ‘Cats set to take on No. 2 Michigan State in the Champions Classic in Chicago’s United Center, Spartans coach Tom Izzo explains the very simple answer. Kentucky has talent – lot’s of it.

Not exactly bulletin board material for Coach Cal’s freshman-laden squad. As in the past few seasons, Kentucky will be relying on teenagers fresh off of High School All-American nominations to try to contend for a national title.

As for how Izzo plains to use a couple freshmen of his own, don’t expect to see much of them in The House that Jordan Built.

Later on, Izzo would wind up giving Cal’s squad a little motivation to chew on. The way Izzo sees things, despite the talent, those youngsters still have to be coached.

Tuesday night should be fun, as the college basketball season announces itself in a big way.
