USA Hockey almost made one man’s 2014 on the very first day of the year.
Prior to announcing the U.S. men’s hockey team roster for the 2014 Winter Olympics to the public, the staff contacted players via text messaging to let them know the news. The only problem? Vancouver Canucks forward Ryan Kesler had changed his number. Instead of Kesler, the staff reached a 67-year-old Canadian man.
The man’s response made it even better: “I’m a 67 year old Canadian in Vancouver, I’d be happy to play for you. I think Canada would be even happier if I played for you.”
