The UCF Knights lambasted Akron, 38-7, in front of the home crowd, for the very first win in American Athletic Conference history. With 314 passing yards and three scores, quarterback Blake Bortles now owns every AAC passing record in the book – details subject to change, of course.
His evening was defined by one unbelievable play that brings back haunting memories for Alabama fans everywhere. In a Manziel-esque move, Bortles first loses the football, corrals it, scurries out of trouble and finally finds a receiver downfield for the touchdown.
What a way to open the season. If he keeps this up, the AAC may prove to be more than simply Teddy Bridgewater and a bunch of stragglers in 2013.
Plus, his smokeshow girlfriend is probably pretty impressed.
