Widely regarded as one of the best cornerbacks in the nation headed into the 2013 season, Loucheiz Purifoy was forced to watch Florida’s Week 1 win over Toledo from the sidelines. He and several others had been suspended for one game following a violation of team rules.
However, he was back for the Gators’ huge rivalry matchup against Miami and he made his presence felt early. With roughly four minutes remaining in the first quarter, Purifoy sliced through the middle of the Miami formation and blocked the Canes’ punt in a big way.
Down 7-0 at the time, the block served as a huge swing in momentum. Quarterback Jeff Driskel would punch it into the end zone himself moments later. A failed two-point conversion attempt would make it 7-6.
