The Saturday night preseason game between Miami and Houston proved to be far more than a mere exhibition for Dolphins tight end Dustin Keller.
Keller suffered a torn ACL, PCL, MCL and dislocated his knee following a low hit by Texans rookie D.J. Swearinger.
The hit was entirely within the rules. In fact, Swearinger would later say that the NFL’s new rules prohibiting “targeting” have forced him and fellow defenders to aim low in order to avoid fines and penalties.
Below is the video clip and a GIF of the hit.
Both are gruesome, so we caution you to proceed at your own risk.
