The new video for Miley Cyrus’ song “Wrecking Ball” features the good-girl-gone-bad shedding her clothes and riding on a wrecking ball – we’ll just call it a pretty literal interpretation of the song title.
Not too long after the release of the song, the internet started doing what it does best and had a field day with the video. It all started with a .gif of Nicholas Cage replacing Cyrus on the ball. Then somebody decided it was Johnny Manziel’s turn to take a ride, followed by Tom Brady.
Now the folks over at Grand Valley State have another reason to think twice about enjoying the music video: The reaction of those on campus has led directly to the ending of a legit school tradition.
Simply put, there’s a wrecking ball on campus that students have been swinging on since 1995. Can we all put two and two together here? Miley swung on her wrecking ball naked. How many Natty Lights would it take a bro (or anyone really, this is pretty hilarious if you ask us) to do the same?
Of course the school denied Mizz Cyrus has anything to do with it.
“We’ve been reviewing this over the last couple of weeks, trying to decide whether we really need to look at structural integrity of the installation,” GVSU associate vice president Tim Thimmesch said, according to WZZM in Michigan. “We decided to have the ball removed and put into storage for now.”
Believe Thimmesch if you like, but this video pretty much sums everything up:
